Classical acupuncture for modern lives.

Your Session

When you come for a session, you'll be welcomed into a calm, one-to-one setting designed to support healing and presence. I’ll be fully with you throughout the entire treatment—holding space with care and attention. Each session lasts about an hour, though I recommend setting aside 2 hours for your first visit. We’ll begin with a conversation to explore what’s bringing you in—whether physical concerns, emotional patterns, or a deeper sense of disconnection. I’ll take your pulses, assess your condition, and design a treatment tailored to your unique needs. The treatment may include acupuncture and/or moxibustion, applied thoughtfully to guide your system back toward balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Answer:
Five-Element Acupuncture is a classical system of Chinese medicine that focuses on treating the root cause of imbalance, rather than just alleviating symptoms. It works on the level of body, mind, and spirit, using the Five Elements—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water—as a framework to understand each person’s unique constitution. While other styles may use more points for symptom management, Five-Element Acupuncture is highly individualised and precise, aiming to restore overall harmony and vitality at a deeper level.

  • Five-Element Acupuncture addresses the root of imbalance across body, mind, and spirit. It is suitable for a wide range of conditions and can also be used as preventative care to support long-term vitality and emotional resilience.

  • DeIn Five-Element Acupuncture, precision is key. Rather than using many needles at once, we select just a few points that are most relevant to your constitutional needs at that moment. This focused approach allows the body to respond clearly and powerfully, without overstimulation. It’s a gentle yet effective method that prioritises depth over quantity.scription text goes here

  • Item In Five-Element Acupuncture, the needles are removed intentionally after the Qi response is felt—this is part of a classical needling technique used to nourish and tonify the acupuncture point. The goal is to support and strengthen the body's energy rather than disperse or sedate it. In contrast, leaving needles in for an extended period is typically used to drain excess energy, which is not the intention in this form of treatment. This precise, minimal approach helps restore balance gently and effectively.

  • Moxibustion is a warming technique that uses dried mugwort (moxa) to gently stimulate acupuncture points. It helps warm and prepare the channels, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural energy. In Five-Element Acupuncture, moxa is often used before needling to tonify and awaken the points, making the treatment more effective and balanced.

  • While herbal medicine can be very effective, Five-Element Acupuncture focuses on restoring balance through the energy system itself. By addressing the underlying elemental imbalance—what we call the Causative Factor—we often find that symptoms begin to resolve without the need for herbs. This approach simplifies the healing process and allows the acupuncture itself to be the primary catalyst for change.

  •
Frequency depends on your individual condition, health goals, and response to treatment. Many people begin with weekly sessions to establish momentum, followed by less frequent maintenance visits once balance is restored. Five-Element Acupuncture works deeply, so consistent treatment at the start helps create lasting change at both physical and emotional levels. We'll regularly assess your progress together to determine what’s best for you.

  • Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to your lower arms, legs, and back. More importantly, give yourself the space to be fully present during the session, which lasts about an hour. This time is for you—to reconnect, rest, and receive. Coming with an open mind and an open heart allows the treatment to meet you where you are and support the healing process more deeply.

I've been seeing Dr Lin since 2012. I keep coming back to Dr Lin because she helps steer me towards finding my 'balance'/harmony.

What makes Dr Lin different is how she interacts with her patients.  She is present for each of us and genuinely cares and listens to us.   I feel this is also what makes her a better doctor, connecting with us. Through our conversations, it also gives an idea of our mental state which is vital in her diagnosis. She is gentle when administering acupuncture.

What makes Dr Lin special is her ability to effortlessly communicate in both English and Mandarin.  She is such a gem, to be able to communicate TCM ideas in English.

—P.S

My acupuncture experience has been and still is, a pleasant one, under the care of my trusted TCM physician, Dr Lin. Acupuncture has helped me ease my pain issues. Helped to harmonize and balance my internal energy to improve my overall health over time. Along this acupuncture journey, I have also learnt to be calm and patient with the recovery process, and that’s important too for recovery.
