Five-Element Acupuncture is a classical system of Chinese medicine that focuses on treating the root cause of imbalance, rather than just alleviating symptoms. It works on the level of body, mind, and spirit, using the Five Elements—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water—as a framework to understand each person’s unique constitution. While other styles may use more points for symptom management, Five-Element Acupuncture is highly individualized and precise, aiming to restore overall harmony and vitality at a deeper level.
-
Five-Element Acupuncture supports the body’s natural ability to heal by restoring balance across body, mind, and spirit. It can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions and can also be used as preventative care to support long-term vitality and emotional resilience.

In Five-Element Acupuncture, precision is key. Rather than using many needles at once, we select just a few points that are most relevant to your constitutional needs at that moment. This focused approach allows the body to respond clearly and powerfully, without overstimulation. It’s a gentle yet effective method that prioritizes depth over quantity.
-
In Five-Element Acupuncture, the needles are removed intentionally after the Qi response is felt—this is part of a classical needling technique used to nourish and tonify the acupuncture point. The goal is to support and strengthen the body's energy rather than disperse or sedate it. In contrast, leaving needles in for an extended period is typically used to drain excess energy, which is not the intention in this form of treatment. This precise, minimal approach helps restore balance gently and effectively.
-
Moxibustion is a warming technique that uses dried mugwort (moxa) to gently stimulate acupuncture points. It helps warm and prepare the channels, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural energy. In Five-Element Acupuncture, moxa is often used before needling to tonify and awaken the points, making the treatment more effective and balanced.
-
Five-Element Acupuncture focuses on restoring balance through the body’s own healing capacity. Rather than relying on external substances, the treatment works through precise acupuncture and moxibustion, keeping your healing process simple and focused.
Herbal medicine, while effective in certain contexts, is not essential in this approach.

Frequency depends on your individual condition, health goals, and response to treatment. Many people begin with weekly sessions to establish momentum, followed by less frequent maintenance visits once balance is restored. Five-Element Acupuncture works deeply, so consistent treatment at the start helps create lasting change at both physical and emotional levels. We'll regularly assess your progress together to determine what’s best for you.

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to your lower arms, legs, and back. More importantly, give yourself the space to be fully present during the session, which lasts about an hour. This time is for you—to reconnect, receive and rebalance. Coming with an open mind and an open heart allows the treatment to meet you where you are and support the healing process more deeply.

Healing takes time—it’s a process that unfolds across layers of the body, mind and spirit. Committing to a package supports consistent care, allowing us to work gradually and deeply to address root imbalances. It offers your body the time and space to respond, integrate, and return to a state of lasting balance.
